Personal Designs

At the Tile Market we offer a personal design and hand-painting service. The locally based ceramic artist, Sue Griffiths, can help you create a unique tiled feature, large or small, for your kitchen or bathroom.

Perhaps you would like to co-ordinate your tiles with furnishing fabrics or and existing colour scheme. Sue Griffiths paints, stencils and sponges with ceramic glazes on top of plain tiles (which are then fired in her kiln) and is therefore able to work with many different sizes and types of wall tiles. Art work and samples can be produced to enable you to visualize the overall effect.

The prices of the tiles vary depending on the complexity of the design. A detailed pattern or panel will take longer to produce and require multiple firings. As a rough guide, very simple sponged or stencilled designs start from £5 each, and hand painted tiles start from £20 each. There is a small fee charged for artwork.

These can be painted on an inexpensive white tile, thus keeping the cost down when tiling the rest of the room, but still giving you an exclusive look.

You can even bring in pictures of your pets or favourite pottery and these can be hand painted to whatever size or design you require. We do encourage you to liase with our artist throughout the project.
